Urban Cohort Program
Since 2008, the Urban Cohort program at Cornerstone Theological Seminary has faithfully cultivated ministry leaders who are called to serve in urban contexts, whether it be in Grand Rapids or across the country. This community-based cohort is designed for diverse individuals who desire to delve deeper into the heart of Scripture, all while being supported by their cohort along the way. Members of the Urban Cohort also benefit from several scholarship opportunities to help them graduate with little to no debt.
The program is built around seven core courses in Bible and theology which are the foundation of the master’s degree program at CTS. Students with accredited undergraduate degrees will complete the core courses and four additional classes to receive either a Master of Arts in ministry leadership or Master of Arts in biblical studies degree. Students without a complete undergraduate degree may apply the seven core courses to one of several bachelor’s degrees offered by the Professional & Graduate Studies division of Cornerstone University. This flexibility allows ministry leaders from various academic backgrounds to further their theological education.
Application
The Urban Cohort program requires 36 credits and students must choose one of two tracks: Master of Arts in ministry leadership or Master of Arts in biblical studies. Urban Cohort students can receive up to 65% tuition reduction because of funding partners dedicated to making seminary training and skills development available and affordable.

Tuition Reduction
Urban Cohort students have the opportunity to receive scholarships of up to 65%. The cohort program requires only one course per semester and can be incorporated into any other program at CTS.

Israel Study Tour
Urban Cohort students have the opportunity to study abroad on the Israel, Palestine & Jordan trip that takes place every January. Members of the Urban Cohort can attend at a minimized cost and can fulfill course credit through the trip.

Cohort Model
The cohort model of this program allows for seminary students to build lasting relationships during their time at CTS. Students in the Urban Cohort will learn alongside each other throughout their degree program and access quality academic resources in the process.
