This week in chapel, Jeff Lash preached a message on how we should seek to be humble as Christ is humble. Each day the media and culture bombard us with the notion that we must promote ourselves and put ourselves above others. Jeff showed from Philippians 2:1-11 that Jesus humbled Himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross. As Christ gave Himself up for His church, we as followers must be willing to be selfless by putting others’ needs above our own.
Humility is a vital characteristic of our Christian faith. Although we naturally want to choose what is best for ourselves, Christ calls us to lay down our lives and to sacrifice our time to be a reflection of the cross. When believers strive to serve one another, unity within the church will develop and God receives glory in your acts of love. Listen to the whole sermon below.
