Cornerstone University Enactus Team Advances to 2017 Enactus National Exposition
The Cornerstone University Enactus team is proud to announce that it was awarded the title of Regional Champion at the Enactus Regional Championship in Rosemont, Ill., on Monday, March 27, 2017. The Regional Championship provides a platform for Enactus teams to share the details of their social enterprise projects with a panel of leading business executives, while also giving them the opportunity to network with business leaders and Enactus students from across the Midwest.
As competition participants, the Cornerstone Enactus team presented project results from the 2016-17 school year that met needs in economic, social and environmental ways to a panel of business executives. The economically sustainable projects included results from the second annual International Artisan Market in November 2016 and the team’s partnership with INSHEV, a community organization in the Ivory Coast. Through fundraising efforts, $950 was provided to INSHEV to fund 10 microloans. The team’s socially sustainable projects focused on middle school kidpreneurs from the Grand Rapids area as they learned entrepreneurship and public speaking skills. Lastly, the team shared the progress on a composting initiative on Cornerstone’s campus, addressing the need for environmental sustainability.
The Cornerstone Enactus team has 40 student participants who worked on a total of 12 projects this year. These projects were funded through student government, fundraising efforts and donations from local businesses.
The team will head to Kansas City, Mo., to attend the Enactus National Exposition in May, where they will compete against Regional Champions from around the country.
